Minimum Requirements For Graduation

 This program would not prepare a student for entrance into a major university but would prepare them for a community or junior college. We would expect students to have as many credits as possible at graduation, but this would be the absolute minimum. The Head of School must approve this program. A conference with the parents, student, Head of School and academic advisor is required for a student to graduate under these requirements.

  • English / Language Arts: four credits consisting of English I, II, III, and IV.
  • Mathematics: three credits consisting of Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
  • Science: two credits from Environmental Science, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, or Biology.
  • Social Studies: three and one-half credits to consist of World History (one credit), World Geography (one credit), United States History Since Reconstruction (one credit), and United States Government (one-half credit).
  • Economics with emphasis on the free enterprise system: one-half credit.
  • Health Education: one-half credit.
  • Speech: one-half credit.
  • Technology Applications: one credit.
  • Bible: four credits or one for each year enrolled at BCS.
  • Fine Arts:  one credit of the same subject:  Choir, Band, Performing Arts, or Art.
  • Physical Education:  one and one-half credit. (Physical Education credits can be earned through sports and/or cheerleading. Sports are 1/4 credit per sport per year. Cheerleading is a 1/2 credit per year.)
  • Electives: one credit.  

Total credits: 22.5

Graduate
  • English/Language Arts: four credits consisting of English I, II, III, and IV.

  • Science:  four credits from Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry, and either Environmental Science, Physics (Pre-AP), or Chemistry II.
  • Social Studies:  three and one-half credits to consist of World History (one credit), World Geography (one credit), United States History Since Reconstruction (one credit), and United States Government (one-half credit).
  • Economics with emphasis on the free enterprise system: one-half credit.
  • Foreign Language: two credits of the same language.

  • Eight Pre-AP or AP classes.

 

Distinguished Graduate

Plus, one of the following four requirements must be met.

  • Score of 3 or better on at least 4 AP Tests.
  • National merit commended rank and a 3 or better on 3 AP tests.
  • College Academic course with a grade of B or higher and a score of 3 or better on at least three AP tests.
  • Two College Academic courses with a grade of B or higher and a score of 3 or better on at least two AP tests.

The students who follow this track will have it denoted on their transcript, after the AP test grades have been received.
